Gestalt focuses on the present rather than the past, emphasizing understanding a person’s life context and taking responsibility rather than placing blame. Developed by Fritz Perls in the 1940s, along with his wife Laura Perls and others like Paul Goodman, it offers a humanistic approach centered on the individual’s uniqueness and individual’s unique experience.

Gestalt approach, derived from the German word for “shape” or “form,” emphasizes perception and how we make sense of our experiences. The coach creates a client-centered environment where the client’s truth is accepted without judgment.

In sessions, clients become more aware of their experiences, perceptions, and responses to events in the present moment, understanding that context matters. It’s about exploring the whole person and their current reality rather than dwelling on the past, providing support and techniques to enhance self- awareness in the present moment.
